Health Enrichment Literacy Program

Health Care - Today, nearly 18,000 children under age 5 will die of mostly preventable causes, such as diarrhea, malaria, and pneumonia. For most of our 55-plus years as an organization, Concern has led the way with standard-setting programs that strengthen local health systems and provide quality nutrition support and education to the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Concern Mission focuses on child and maternal health by promoting health and nutrition practices and preventing major disease causes. With the help of our partner, The Presbyterian Hospital and the Atrium Carolina Medical Center, and our donors, we have shouldered responsibility for ensuring that people receive quality health care and medical material for local community clinics in Africa, We have volunteered nurses on staff that provide immediate care and we prevent illnesses by providing mosquito nets, clean water, and sanitation in areas most needed in Africa.

Concern Mission  Health Enrichment Literacy Program  (HELP) exists to improve the health environments of the less fortunate people, especially the innocent children, and communities we serve. We work with local health centers, churches, schools, and families; encouraging, maintaining, and strengthening relationships through workshops, counseling, and publication on the basis of sound health and meaningful life in Christ, that help make the concept of life appreciative.

Supporting Community Health Worldwide

Concern Mission International works in collaboration with the Presbyterian Hospital and the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte North Carolina Health programs in helping to improve a healthy community by conducting quarterly high blood pressure and sugar screening, Through our collaborations with these trained health professionals, our health and nutrition programs, have been helpful to thousands of adults, especially for people with one or more chronic health conditions.

Conducting Community
Blood Screening

Nearly 50% of adults have high blood pressure all around the world. High blood pressure increases the risk of serious health problems, including stroke and heart attack. The risk for high blood pressure goes up as a person gets older, and especially with poor dieting can also increase the risk for high blood. Annually, in 3 times a year, in partnership with the Presbyterian Hospital, our Health Enrichment Literacy Progm (HELP) conducts a community  high blood and sugar screening within the Charlotte communities, North Carolina, USA,

Africa has the highest rate of high blood pressure in the world, affecting about 46% of adults, a World Health Organization (WHO) study has found. It blamed increasing urbanization and unhealthy lifestyles for the rise in cases. The global average for the number of people suffering from the condition was about 40%,

We Conduct periodic community High Blood screenings to help alleviate some of the health problems and challenges facing the poor and needy people.

We believe it is our duty to be the leaders in disrupting health inequities for people from everywhere, of every identity and every culture – as partners, as ls, and as teammates – in a place where they know they’ll be respected, appreciated, and valued for who they are. We encourage you to see our Impact Report to understand more about our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at our Core of Value.

Collaborating with Local and International
                      Community Health System

Local and national health systems are the main sources for two important nutrition

services: treating acute malnutrition and providing key nutrient supplements for women in children. Health workers are also key players in both promoting overall healthy habits and responding to emergencies.

Beyond clinics and hospitals, community healthcare workers and volunteers are essential — especially in rural areas where the closest facility could be a days-long journey. Concern Mission’s role is to build the skills and capacities of hospital and clinic staff, as well as those of community workers and volunteers. We also work on finding sustainable processes that allow lifesaving interventions to be delivered via governments and communities, at local and national levels.

Hunger doesn’t happen in isolation. Many of the causes of malnutrition and other health issues cut across sectors. Integrated programs streamline our efforts, as well as those of communities and governments. Sharing resources through joint planning and coordination means we’re able to do more with less while maintaining effectiveness.

Our health and nutrition work often involves projects that combine one or more of the following areas of focus: Agriculture and climate response, maternal and child health, water, sanitation, and hygiene, education, and livelihoods.

Local Health Caregiver

Our donations aim to increase access to medicine and medical supplies for those who cannot afford them.

Concern Mission International donations also give our health partners and their local facilities the opportunity to allocate their limited funding to meet other critical needs in helping the poor, sick, and needy people within their communities.

Remember, a little gift or donation can make a big difference. We can all help to protect lives, support the strength of local communities, and make our dying and challenging world a better place for everyone to live and survive, by mobilizing, networking, and working in partnership to support the poor and needy and people who are most at risk and affected by natural disaster, crisis and epidemics.
