OUR HISTORY
HOW WE GOT STARTED

When the Liberian civil war broke out in December 1989, it tore through the very heart of the nation. The conflict left behind shattered communities, broken families, and the ruins of institutions that once supported the social, economic, and spiritual life of the people. Thousands of innocent lives were lost—among them countless children and women—caught in the crossfire of a war they did not create.
In September 1990, as the suffering deepened, the United Nations began sending food and relief supplies to help the victims. During that dark time, a group of compassionate pastors, ministers, doctors, nurses, and ordinary men and women came together in service. Risking their lives amid flying bullets and chaos, they joined hands with the Baptist Relief and Catholic Relief Services to distribute emergency food and bring hope to those who had lost everything.
Out of these acts of courage and compassion—born in the heat of war and driven by faith—Concern Mission International was formed. What began as a humble effort known as Concern for the World Mission soon grew into a movement of love and service to humanity.
In 1991, Concern Mission International was officially registered in Liberia as a non-governmental organization, and later, in October 2005, it was incorporated in the United States as a not-for-profit Christian humanitarian organization.
Since then, Concern Mission International has expanded its reach beyond Liberia’s borders, extending compassion to suffering people across many nations. Guided by the love of Christ, the mission continues to serve those in need—feeding the hungry, comforting the afflicted, and sharing the Gospel of hope and redemption.

"Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others. “Help others without any reason and give without the expectation of receiving anything in return. “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.'

OUR CORE VALUE
We believe all human beings are equal in rights and must be treated with respect and dignity. We are involved. Listening and partnership are key to empowering the poorest and most vulnerable to transform their own lives.
OUR COMMITMENT
🌎 We are dedicated to working alongside children, families, and communities around the world to help them reach their fullest potential by addressing the root causes of poverty and injustice. Guided by compassion and faith, we respond to the immediate needs of those affected by natural disasters and civil conflicts while also partnering with communities to create lasting, sustainable solutions that break the cycle of poverty.
Since 1991, we have been serving in 22 countries, reaching people of all races, ethnicities, religions, and genders. Through advocacy, relief, and development programs, we work to uphold justice, restore hope, and empower individuals to build stronger futures.
Motivated by our faith in God, we are committed to expanding His Kingdom through humanitarian efforts that nurture the spiritual, emotional, mental, moral, and physical well-being of all people. Together, we strive to create a world where every person can live with dignity, purpose, and opportunity.

OUR STRATEGY
Our strategy for the coming years is to provide the best possible alternative care for children, drive innovation, and expand our network of partners and donors. Together, we aim to support vulnerable children and individuals living below the poverty line, helping them build a better future.
OUR IMPACT
We have transformed the lives of more than 4.2 million vulnerable children and families across 10 countries and territories, fostering sustainable change in the communities, villages, towns, and cities we serve—particularly throughout Africa and South Asia, where millions continue to endure the challenges of poverty and hardship.

Sustainable Education and Development Goals
An estimated 220 million children around the world lack adequate care.
At Concern Mission, we identify with these vulnerable children by providing holistic support and high-quality services across 13 countries.
We have assessed the impact of our work through interviews with 3,450 individuals from 37 countries who previously received our support.
The findings show that, with Concern Mission’s help, most of these individuals have significantly improved their quality of life and are now contributing positively to their communities.
Our impact—especially in transforming the lives of women and children—has only been possible thanks to the compassion and generosity of those who support our mission.
